About me

Welcome to Lavender Cottage Designs, where I bring watercolour and stitching together to create hand embroidery kits inspired by the natural world.

I'm Tracy, a designer and maker based in Yorkshire, England. I have always had a love of watercolour from my art college days — it remains my favourite medium to work with. Each of my embroidery kit designs begins life as a watercolour painting before being transformed into a stitchable pattern, so every kit has a painterly quality you won't find elsewhere.

I have my mum to thank for my love of all things sewing. She taught me as a child and has a wealth of knowledge I still tap into today — thanks Mum! Between her and my art training, making these kits feels like the perfect bringing together of everything I love.

I take inspiration from the natural world — the changing seasons, hedgerows, gardens, and the countryside I explore with my two spaniels. They're my constant shadows and you'll spot them popping up in blog posts from time to time (muddy paws and all).

Every Lavender Cottage Designs kit is created with care and comes with everything you need to get started, whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced stitcher.
