About the Kits
What's included in an embroidery kit? Each Lavender Cottage Designs kit includes a pre-printed linen panel with the design ready to stitch, all the DMC stranded cotton threads you'll need in the listed colours, Iron on Stabilzer, a full stitch guide with illustrated instructions, and a needle. You just need to add an embroidery hoop if you don't already have one — we recommend a 8 inch hoop for most of our designs.
Do I need any experience to use your kits? Most of our kits are designed with confident beginners in mind — if you've done a little embroidery before and want a beautiful project to build your skills, you'll feel right at home. Some designs are more detailed and suit experienced stitchers looking for a satisfying challenge. Each product page tells you the suggested skill level.
What stitches will I be learning? Our kits typically use a combination of classic hand embroidery stitches such as satin stitch, stem stitch, French knots, and straight stitch. The stitch guide included in every kit walks you through each one with clear instructions.
What size are the finished pieces? Each product page includes the finished dimensions of the design. Most of our panels are designed to frame or display beautifully once complete.
Are your designs original? Yes — all Lavender Cottage Designs patterns are original, nature-inspired designs painted by Tracy Snow, a UK-based designer with an art and textile background. Every kit is made with care in the UK.
Materials & Quality
What fabric is used in the kits? Our panels are printed onto quality linen/cotton, which is a pleasure to stitch on and gives a lovely finish.
Which thread brand do you use? We use DMC stranded cotton — the most widely available and trusted embroidery thread brand. This means if you ever need to replace a colour, you can easily match it at any craft shop.
Do I need to buy a hoop separately? Yes — hoops are not included in the kits, but a standard 8 inch embroidery hoop is all you need for most designs. These are widely available in craft shops and online.
PDF Patterns
What do I get with a PDF pattern? Our PDF patterns are digital downloads you can print at home. Each one includes the full design template and stitch guide. You'll source your own fabric and threads — the product page lists everything you'll need.
What size should I print the pattern? Each PDF pattern includes printing instructions. Most are designed to print at A4 size on a home printer.
Can I use the patterns for my own projects? Our PDF patterns are for personal use only and are not to be reproduced, shared, or used for commercial purposes.
Orders & Delivery
Where do you ship to? We currently ship within the UK, USA & Australia. PDF patterns are available as instant digital downloads worldwide.
How long will my order take to arrive? UK kit orders are typically dispatched within 2–3 working days. You'll receive a confirmation email once your order is on its way.
What is your returns policy? We want you to be happy with your purchase. If something isn't right, please get in touch at info@lavendercottagedesigns.com within 14 days of receiving your order and we'll do our best to help. Please note that PDF patterns are non-refundable once downloaded.
